N° 10Tax strategy · with Valoram Strategic Tax Advisors
Tax planning & savings · Sacramento, CaliforniaTax planning that starts before April.
Most people file, pay and move on. If your household pays a real tax bill every year, a Tax Assessment Blueprint reviews your last three years of returns and shows which legal strategies may apply to you. The tax work is done by Valoram Strategic Tax Advisors' CPAs and Enrolled Agents; If you want, their team can then put the plan in place for you, year-round. I coordinate it with your insurance and retirement plan. This is not tax advice, and no amount of savings is promised.
Your tax preparer's job is to report last year accurately. Planning is a different job: looking ahead, during the year, for legal ways to lower what you owe before the deadlines pass. Plenty of good preparers focus on filing. The real question is whether anyone on your team owns the planning.
The Tax Assessment Blueprint is a standalone engagement run by Valoram Strategic Tax Advisors. Their tax professionals review your returns and your current situation, find the strategies that may fit your facts, estimate what each could be worth where they can, and hand you a written roadmap. It is yours to keep whether or not you hire anyone to carry it out. Your current CPA can use it too.

§ 02How it runs
How a tax assessment runs, start to finish
Six steps in Valoram's client roadmap, condensed to four. Times come from their current client materials; the clock starts once your documents are in.
01
Talk it through
A short call with me to see whether your tax bill is big enough to justify an assessment, then a 20–25 minute Zoom on your numbers and what you want the money to do.
02
Onboarding & documents
A 30–45 minute onboarding meeting and a secure client portal for your returns, W-2s and 1099s, business, property, investment and insurance details.
03
Tax professional review
A 45–60 minute Q&A with a CPA or Enrolled Agent. The advisory team then builds your assessment, targeting about ten business days.
04
Your blueprint
A 60-minute strategy meeting: what applies, what it could be worth, what it takes to put in place, and who does it. That can be Valoram, your own CPA, or no one.
Fit · and the trade
§ 03Judgment
This fits you if
Your household pays a meaningful tax bill every year (five figures or more) and your income is rising.
You own a business or rental property, or earn from several sources: W-2, 1099, K-1, investments.
You mostly talk to your tax preparer in February and March, and nobody looks ahead during the year.
You want a second set of eyes without firing the CPA you already like.
What you have to weigh
The assessment has a flat fee, paid before the work starts. It buys a diagnosis, not a guaranteed result.
Savings depend on your facts. Some households find several strategies; some find few. Any number mentioned before the review is an estimate.
Some strategies need new entities, investments, paperwork or more professionals, each with its own cost and IRS rules to follow.
The ten-day target starts once every document is in. Missing paperwork, complex returns or IRS delays push it out.

§ 04The service
White-glove, year-round. Done for you.
The blueprint shows what applies. The white-glove service is the team doing the work. Valoram's CPAs and Enrolled Agents put the strategies in place, handle the paperwork and the timing, work with any other professionals you need, and make sure your tax preparer has what they need at year-end. You are not rebuilding the year in April.
Through the year they check in as your income or business changes, so the plan keeps up with you. It is an annual fee based on how complex your situation is, and it is optional: you can always take the blueprint to your own CPA instead.

Questions people ask about tax planning
General information, not tax or legal advice. Tax services are provided by Valoram Strategic Tax Advisors, not by Christopher Magee. Meeting in the Sacramento area? How I work locally →
Q · 01
Who does the tax work?
Valoram Strategic Tax Advisors' team, including CPAs and Enrolled Agents. I am a licensed life insurance agent, not a tax preparer: I make the introduction, keep the meetings moving, and make sure the plan fits with your insurance and retirement picture. Valoram pays me a referral fee if you sign up with them; it does not change your price.
Q · 02
Do I have to leave my current CPA?
No. The blueprint is yours. You can have Valoram help put it in place, hand it to your current CPA or Enrolled Agent, or set it aside. The point is to learn what applies before anyone sells you a solution.
Q · 03
How much will I save?
Nobody can say before the review, and you should be wary of anyone who does. It depends on your income, entities, property and goals. The blueprint estimates the potential value of each strategy where it can.
Q · 04
What documents do I need?
Your last three years of returns, W-2s and 1099s, details on any business you own, real estate (value, mortgage, rental income), investment and retirement accounts, and any life insurance you already have. Send what you have; the onboarding team fills the gaps.
Q · 05
What does it cost?
The assessment is a flat fee, quoted before you pay. It covers the return review, the analysis, the Q&A with a tax professional, the written blueprint and the delivery meeting. Ongoing planning or help putting strategies in place, if you want it, is priced separately.
Q · 06
Where does life insurance fit in?
Sometimes it does not. For business owners and higher earners it can: permanent life insurance has tax-advantaged features, and structures like VMAX use an irrevocable trust. If the blueprint points there, I will show you the options. If not, you still have the plan.
