Life insurance agent in Sacramento, CaliforniaLocal, and

Where I work
§ 01Service area

Sacramento County, and the towns around it.

I am based in Sacramento and meet people across the county and the cities next to it. We can sit down in person, or skip the drive and do the whole thing by video: the first conversation, the application and the carrier's follow-up questions all work either way.

Being local matters for the parts of this that are not on paper: knowing who to call at a carrier when a case stalls, being reachable when a beneficiary needs help with a claim, and sitting across from you again at the annual review.

I hold a California resident license and non-resident licenses in Texas, Virginia, South Carolina, Michigan and Ohio, so family members in those states can often be helped too. Insurance is solicited only where I hold an active license and the product is approved.

§ 02How it works

What an independent agent actually does

A captive agent is appointed to sell for one insurance company. An independent agent holds appointments with several, and how many decides how much of the market you get to see.

01

One application, several carriers

Carriers price the same age and health differently. I compare several before you apply anywhere, so the first underwriting decision is not the only one you see.

02

Underwriting, handled

I prepare the application with you, order what the carrier needs, and chase the follow-up questions so you are not on hold with an underwriting department.

03

Everything in writing

California holds life and annuity recommendations to a best-interest standard. You get the basis for my recommendation in writing, and my compensation disclosure on request.

04

Still here next year

A yearly look at funding, beneficiaries and loan balances for as long as you hold the contract, including when a carrier changes its rates.

What I place
§ 03Instruments

Five instruments, one conversation.

01

Indexed universal life

Permanent coverage with cash value credited off an index, designed and illustrated at the guaranteed rate first.

02

Whole life insurance

A level premium, a death benefit for life and a cash value schedule printed in the contract.

03

Annuities & retirement income

Rollovers and savings turned into income, with rates, surrender terms and rider fees compared across carriers.

04

Final expense & burial insurance

A small whole life policy, usually issued on health questions alone, sized to the funeral and the bills after it.

05

VMAX for business owners

A Valoram Solutions program pairing an underwritten policy in a trust with a loan to your LLC. The loan is a real cost.

Before you meet anyone
§ 04Checks
Check any agent, including me
  • Look the agent up on the California Department of Insurance Check a License page before you share anything personal. Mine is 4531090.
  • Make premium payments to the insurance company, never to the agent personally.
  • Ask how the agent is paid. For life insurance and annuities in California, you can ask for that disclosure in writing.
  • If you are 60 or older, California gives you 30 days after delivery to cancel a new life insurance policy or annuity.
What you get from me
  • The guaranteed column shown before the projected one.
  • Quotes from more than one carrier, on the same page.
  • A straight answer when nothing I place fits your situation.
  • A review every year for as long as you hold the contract.

§ 05Questions

Working with a Sacramento agent

Q · 01

Where do you meet clients?

In person around Sacramento County and the neighboring cities listed above, and by phone or video anywhere I hold a license. If you are 65 or older and would like to meet at home, I send California's required written notice at least 24 hours before the visit.

Q · 02

What does it cost to talk with you?

Nothing. A first conversation takes about twenty minutes and carries no fee or obligation. If I place a policy or annuity, the issuing insurance company pays my commission; a written disclosure of my compensation is available on request.

Q · 03

How can I check your license?

Search the California Department of Insurance Check a License tool at insurance.ca.gov by my name or by license number 4531090. My non-resident license numbers for Texas, Virginia, South Carolina, Michigan and Ohio are listed at the bottom of every page.

Q · 04

How do I book a time?

Use the booking link below to pick a 20-minute slot on my calendar, call or text (916) 541-3415, or email me. Tell me roughly what you are trying to protect or fund, and whether you would rather meet in person or by video.

Q · 05

What is the difference between an independent and a captive agent?

A captive agent is appointed to sell for one insurance company. An independent agent holds appointments with several, so the same application can be compared across carriers before you choose. I place business with multiple carriers and will tell you when none of them fits.
